First program of the Spring 23 semester with M.M. candidate Emma Grace on oboe! As always, the Poulenc Sonata (the two excerpts here are from the 2nd movement) gets me every time. What a masterpiece. This was Poulenc’s final work composed in 1962 as an elegie to the late Sergei Prokofiev. This piece encapsulates every stage of life and death, distilling it into 3 movements. Unbelievable music.
